TEG Recruits Chief Information Officer and SVP of Enterprise Sales for FirstLight Fiber

NEW YORK (May 22, 2019) – TEG, a technology-focused search firm making high-impact hires, has recruited Len Camara as chief information officer and Cheryl Carney as senior vice president of enterprise sales for FirstLight Fiber, a leading provider of fiber-optic data, internet, data center, cloud, and voice services to enterprise and carrier customers throughout the Northeast.

Both executives are critical hires as FirstLight Fiber embarks on its next phase of growth. Acquired by private equity firm Antin Infrastructure Partners in 2018, the company is focused on expanding its footprint, enhancing capabilities, and making strategic acquisitions to meet growing demands for bandwidth and data traffic.

Len Camara will serve as a member of the senior executive team and will oversee the advancement of the company’s information systems and information technology functions.

Camara has more than 20 years of experience leading IT teams by implementing systems, processes, and capabilities. He has helped ensure the security of digital assets, drive operating efficiencies, and enable effective data mining, all of which help improve the customer experience and maintain the integrity of systems and IT platforms. Camara has held several senior management positions, most recently overseeing the digital transformation of Energy Federation as its chief information officer. He also held senior IT roles at Bright Horizons, TNCI, Polaroid, and GTE Internetworking.

“Len joins FirstLight at a time when data analytics, network security, and enhancing our systems and IT platforms are critical to the continued enhancement of the customer experience. Len successfully led IT teams over the course of his career, and we are confident that his impressive leadership skills and experience will prove invaluable to the company as we enter the next stage of growth,” Kurt Van Wagenen, president and chief executive officer for FirstLight, said in a press release.

Camara holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration and information systems from Bryant University and a Juris Doctor from New England Law.

“I am delighted to join the FirstLight team,” Camara said. “I look forward to being part of a dynamic, growing organization and implementing strategies that will further leverage our IT infrastructure to help propel FirstLight’s continued growth.”

Cheryl Carney will also serve as a member of the senior executive team and lead the enterprise sales organization to accelerate growth.

Carney brings 19 years of experience in the telecommunications and management space, where she developed strategy, built teams, and executed against sales goals. Carney most recently was vice president of direct sales at Windstream, overseeing the Northeast for this multibillion-dollar network communications and technology solutions provider. Before that, she advanced through sales leadership roles with PAETEC. She holds an MBA from Le Moyne College and a bachelor’s degree from St. John Fisher College.

Camara and Carney were identified through a rigorous executive search process led by Sarah McCullough, partner at TEG.

“With the tremendous growth that FirstLight has experienced, we were tasked to bring on executives who could maintain its laser focus on customer experience,” McCullough said. “I am confident that Len and Cheryl will be able to play significant roles in FirstLight’s continued success.”
